Generally we speak health is wealth. Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Physical activity and healthy diet can help you to maintain a healthy body and light weight, which reduce your self from risk of chronic diseases like cancer, arthritis and heart problems etc.
The exact elements of a healthy diet will depend on different factors like how old and how active we are in our present life, as well as the which kinds of foods that are available in the locality where we live. But in our present living style across cultures, there are some common food tips for helping us lead healthier, longer lives.
Some common tips to ensure a balanced diet:
- In our daily diet, aim to eat a mix of staple foods such as wheat, rice, green vegetables and potatoes with salad and beans, quantity of fresh fruit. We can take healthy foods from animal sources like milk, meat, fish, eggs etc.
- We can choose wholegrain foods like unprocessed maize, black chana, oats, wheat and brown rice etc. They are rich in valuable fibre and can help you feel full for longer.

- We can also choose light bolied snacks, raw vegetables, unsalted nuts and fresh fruits and dry fruits etc. rather than foods that are high in sugars, fats or salt.
Some tips to reduce your salt intake:
- While cooking and preparing foods, always use salt casually and avoid or reduce use of salty sauces and ketchup like soy sauce, stock or fish sauce etc.
- Always avoid spicy snacks that are cooked with high in salted, red chilly. Try to choose fresh healthy boiled snacks instead of processed and junk foods.

- While using canned packed food or dried vegetables, nuts and fruit, choose varieties without added salt and sugars.
- Remove salt and salty condiments or pickle from the table and try and avoid adding them in food out of habit; our tastebuds can quickly adjust and once they do, you are likely to enjoy food with less salt, but more flavor!
- Also need to check the labels of food and set sodium content in it.
Some tips to reduce fat utilization:
- Use cholesterol free butter instead of fat butter, lard and ghee with healthier oils such as soybean, canola (rapeseed), corn, safflower and sunflower.
- Cook white meat like poultry and fish which are generally lower in fats which are good for health rather than red meat, trim meat of visible fat and limit the consumption of processed meats.

- It will be best for good health if we try steaming or boiling food instead of frying food in cooking.
- Check validity labels packed food in any urgency period and always avoid all processed, fast and fried foods that contain industrially-produced trans fat. Generally It is often found in margarine and ghee, as well as pre-packaged snacks, fast, baked and fried foods.
Some tips to reduce sugar intake:
- Set a limit to intake of sweets and sugary drinks such as beverages, fruit juices and juice drinks, fizzy drinks liquid, powder concentrates, flavoured water, energy and sports drinks, ready-to-drink tea and coffee and flavoured milk drinks etc.

- Always need to remember use of alcohol consumption is injuries to health.
- If you take it occasional with less quantity with more water then it will less affect on our body.
- Ladies should not drink alcohol at all if they are pregnant or breastfeeding.
